Sir Tim Berners-Lee is the Director of the World Wide Web Consortium, holds the 3Com Founders chair and is a Senior Research Scientist in the Decentralized Information Group at the CSAIL (Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is co-Director of the new Web Science Research Initiative (WSRI) and is a Chair in the Computer Science Department at the University of Southampton, UK.
In 1989 he invented the World Wide Web, an Internet-based hypermedia initiative for global information sharing while at CERN, the European Particle Physics Laboratory. He wrote the first web client and server in 1990. His specifications of URIs, HTTP and HTML have been the basis for the ones used today.
Xabier Uribe-Etxebarria is CEO and Founder of Anboto Group as well as the President of the organizing committee of BWS. Anboto is the company leader in Semantic and Natural Language technology applied to Web Customer Service and eCommerce. The products of Anboto are: Virtual Sales Agents and Intelligent Chats. Anboto has been named “Cool Vendor 2011” by Gartner. Anboto has been also the best rated company and awarded as the Start-up of the year 2010 world wide by Guidewire Group innovate!100 ranking.
She is co-founder and CEO of Guidewire Group, a technology services firm focusing exclusively on early-stage technology ventures. Shipley consults with emerging technology companies around the world to identify market opportunities and accelerate business growth. At Guidewire Group, Shipley was instrumental in creating the first social media conference, BlogOn, held at University of California at Berkeley in 2005. She is widely acknowledged for coining the term social media.
